Meeting of the IPPN Root Phenotyping Working Group
For anyone interested in root phenotyping this is the chance to join the IPPN Root Phenotyping Group who just recently elected a new Chair & Co-Chair.
On behalf of the International Plant Phenotyping Network (IPPN) Root Phenotyping Working Group (RPWG) we would like to invite you to become part of the RPWG activities. This working group has been approved by the IPPN and can include researchers from within and outside of IPPN member institutions.
The aim of the RPWG is to drive forward the technical area of root phenotyping. We want to share knowledge, technologies, and become a forum to identify the scientific and technical boundaries of root phenotyping, so that the discipline continues to help meet global agricultural and environmental challenges.
To address the unique challenges of root phenotyping it is paramount that this group is multidisciplinary, made up of plant scientists, soil scientists, computer scientists, modelers, engineers, mathematicians, breeders and agronomists, amongst others. We therefore hope to attract interest from other IPPN working groups, as well as leading root research organisations such as the International Society of Root Research (ISRR). We will constantly endeavor to ensure we actively work towards inclusiveness and diversity.Â
To ensure that the impact of the RWG is far reaching geographically and technically, please forward to your favourite collaborators working on root phenotyping, especially if they are in a different discipline to you.
If you’d like to join our working group, please register here. We expect that members will make reasonable efforts to be engaged and join meetings when possible. Working group members DO NOT need to belong to IPPN member organizations.Â
